ലോക റെക്കോര്ഡ് ജേതാവായ (യു.ആര്.എഫ്) കാരൂര് സോമന് മാവേലിക്കര ചാരുംമൂട് സ്വദേശിയാണ്. ഒരു ദിവസം ലോകത്താദ്യമായി ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല് (34) പുസ്തകങ്ങള് പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്തതിനുളള അംഗീകാരമായിട്ടാണ് ലോക റെക്കോര്ഡില് ഇടംപിടിച്ചത്. ആമസോണ് ഇന്റര്നാഷണല് എഴുത്തുകാരന് എന്ന ബഹുമതിയടക്കം ഇരുപതോളം പുരസ്കാരങ്ങള് ലഭിച്ചു. മലയാള മനോരമയുടെ യുവ സാഹിത്യ സഖ്യ അംഗമായിരുന്നു. ഹൈസ്കൂള് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥി ആയിരിക്കെ മലയാള മനോരമയുടെ ‘ബാലരമ’യില് കവിതകള് എഴുതി. ആകാശവാണി തിരുവനന്തപുരം, തൃശ്ശൂര് നിലയങ്ങളില് ഞാനെഴുതിയ നാടകങ്ങള് പ്രക്ഷേപണം ചെയ്തു.
ഹൈസ്കൂള് പഠനകാലം താമരക്കുളം, വള്ളികുന്നം, ചുനക്കര, പാലമേല് എന്നീ പഞ്ചായ ത്തുകളിലെ ഹൈസ്കൂള് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥികള്ക്കായി നൂര്നാട് ലെപ്രസ്സി സാനിറ്റോറിയം ഒരു ഉപന്യാസ മത്സരം ‘കുഷ്ഠരോഗവും നിവാരണ മാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളും’ എന്ന വിഷയത്തില് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. മത്സരത്തില് ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം സമ്മാനമായി ശ്രീ.ബി.കെ. ബി നായരുടെ ‘പ്രസംഗ സോപാനം’ എന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥം ശ്രീ. തോപ്പില് ഭാസിയില് നിന്ന് ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി. പിന്നീട് ശ്രീ. തോപ്പില് ഭാസി എന്റെ ഗള്ഫില് നിന്നുള്ള മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ സംഗീത നാടകം ‘കടലിനക്കരെ എംബസി സ്കൂള്’എന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന് അവതാരിക എഴുതുകയുണ്ടായി.വി.വി.എച്ച്.എസ്സ്കൂള് വിദ്യാര്ത്ഥിയാ യിരിക്കെ വാര്ഷിക കലാ പരിപാടിയില് പോലീസിനെ വിമര്ശിച്ച് ഞാനെഴുതിയ ‘ഇരുളടഞ്ഞ താഴ്വര’ എന്ന നാടകം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച് ‘ബെസ്റ്റ് ആക്ടര്’ സമ്മാനം നേടി. ആ നാടകം മാവേലിക്കര പോലീസിനെ പ്രകോപിപ്പിച്ചു. അവര് നക്സല് ബന്ധം ആരോപിച്ച് എന്റെ പേരില് കേസെടുത്ത് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത് മര്ദ്ദിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് പണ്ഡിത കവി ശ്രീ. കെ.കെ.പണിക്കര് ഇടപെട്ട് പോലീസില് നിന്ന് എന്നെ മോചിപ്പിച്ചു. പോലീസിന്റെ നോട്ടപ്പുളളി ആയിരിക്കെ ഒളിച്ചോടി ബീഹാറില് റാഞ്ചിയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെയടുക്കലെത്തി. അവിടെ റാഞ്ചി ഏയ്ഞ്ചല് തിയ്യേറ്ററിന് വേണ്ടി നാടകങ്ങളും ഗാനങ്ങളുമെഴുതി.

Karoor Soman
Karoor Soman is a renowned Malayalam writer who currently lives in London. He hails from Charummood, Mavelikara, in Kerala, India. He is a Universal Records Forum (URF) World Record Holder for publishing the most books (34) by a single person in a single day. His literary career spans over four and a half decades, and he has published 70 works covering various genres. All of his book titles published since 1985 begin with the Malayalam letter ‘Ka’. This is considered a unique and very rare event in Malayalam literary history.
Early Life and Education:
He began his literary activities during his school days, writing poems for the children’s magazine ‘Balarama’ by Malayalam Manorama. His dramas were broadcast on All India Radio stations in Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur. During his high school years, he won first place in an essay competition on “Leprosy and Methods of Prevention” and received the book ‘Prasangha Sopanam’ from Thoppil Bhasi. Later, Thoppil Bhasi wrote the foreword for his first Malayalam musical drama from the Gulf, Kadalinakkare Embassy School.
A drama he wrote and acted in during a school annual function, Iruladanaja Thaazhvara (The Dark Valley), which was critical of the police, led to his arrest, beating, and torture on false charges of Naxalite connection in Mavelikara. Poet and scholar K.K. Paniker intervened to secure his release from the police. Threatened by the police and his parents to stop writing, he escaped to Ranchi, Bihar. His first job was with the daily newspaper Ranchi Express.
He studied in Kerala, Ranchi, and New Delhi.
